![]() I had turned off the WiFi connection before uninstalling McAfee in case Defender didn't automatically turn itself on. What confused me is that it has been updated today. I didn't click and Windows Defender appears to have activated after the reboot. I may or may not have been supposed to click in that window. If we change The Administrator's PW as some point do we have to keep the original PW to do some stuff?Īlso, while McAfee was deleting itself I got a message to turn on Windows Defender. We didn't have PINs in WinXP.ĭo we have to log in w/ the PW instead of PIN to do some stuff? My understanding from back in WinXP days was that the first account established w/ PW was The Administrator and that account's PW would be needed for certain actions like in the BIOS that other administrator accounts couldn't do. It said an administrator needed to do it. A subfolder does have files in it I did not delete the files but went back to the top folder and tried to delete. Then I went to C/Programs to delete the McAfee folder. I rebooted between uninstalleding McAfee and its WEB advisor and after the WEB advisor uninstall. Today I uninstalled McAfee using the RClick in Programs. We've both been logging in using the PIN. So far she has set up one account w/ a PW and PIN and we are both using it. My sister and I plan to share the computer. ![]() I am trying to set up a new HP Win10 laptop that came preloaded w/ a trial McAfee.
